EMERALD CITY | Yoko Ono “Inspired by Iceland” Lennon Ono Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavík Lights a Tribute of Global Inspiration
Legendary artist, musician and peace advocate Yoko Ono, held several events in Iceland this past October 9th to promote peace throughout the world and celebrated what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday. We were so inspired and touched by Yoko’s Lennon Ono Grant for Peace and her Iceland video tribute – a beautiful and scenic portrayal of Iceland – we embraced her vision by posting her special tribute here on HAUTEOC TRAVELER to continue to spread her message courtesy of Inspired by Iceland – ”Yoko Ono has a strong connection to Iceland through the stunning Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavík that is a memorial to John Lennon.”
Volcanically and geologically active Reykjavík is the largest city and capital of Iceland home to two-thirds of the national population with surrounding areas in the southwestern region of the country consisting mainly of sand fields, magnificent mountains and scenic glaciers. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Iceland has a temperate climate despite its high altitude outside of the Arctic Circle, in January temperatures can rise higher than the city of New York.
