Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer travel season and is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year. John Wayne Airport (JWA) expects airport traffic to be heaviest on Friday (May 27) and Tuesday (May 31). In 2010, over 100,000 passengers traveled through JWA between the Friday before and the Tuesday after Memorial Day.

Visitors to JWA during the Memorial Day holiday weekend should be aware of ongoing construction activities around the Riley Terminal. Passengers and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and give themselves 90 minutes to two-hours to find parking, check their luggage and go through the security checkpoint to ensure they are at their gate in time for their flight. … Continue Reading

JWA | John Wayne Airport Named Historic Landmark by American Society of Civil Engineers by OCAir.com Jenny Wedge

John Wayne Airport (JWA) has been named a Local Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Orange County Branch and is one of only three airports worldwide bestowed with this honor.

A bronze plaque was presented to JWA in a ceremony held in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal last week, and has been placed permanently on a column in the Terminal B baggage claim area.

“Civil engineers have played a large part in building the Riley Terminal and are instrumental to the development of our current $543 million Airport Improvement Program,” said Airport Director Alan L. Murphy. … Continue Reading

JWA | PARADIES-OC, LLC TO BRING CNBC NEWS, BLACKBERRY AND SURF CAMS TO JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT by Jenny Wedge

John Wayne Airport (JWA) is pleased to announce that the Orange County Board of Supervisors has approved a lease with Paradies-OC, LLC to operate news and gift stores in Terminal B and the new Terminal C at JWA. The lease is part of an overall plan to bring more variety and choice to passengers traveling through the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

“Paradies has provided excellent customer service to Orange County travelers for more than 20 years. We are delighted that Paradies will be staying at John Wayne Airport and will bring our customers some very exciting new concepts and merchandise,” said Airport Director Alan L. Murphy.

Beachfront News |   Beachfront News in Terminal C will feature surf cams connecting passengers with local beaches, a Read & Return book purchase program, and an “H20 & a Paper To Go” self-serve kiosk.

John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period between December 17, 2010 and January 3, 2011. In 2009, more than 450,000 passengers traveled through JWA during the two-week Christmas/New Year holiday period. To ensure a smooth visit to the Airport, passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and arrive at the Airport 1-1/2 to 2 hours prior to their flight departure time.

In anticipation of the nation’s most heavily traveled holiday period, John Wayne Airport (JWA) offers travel tips to help passengers prepare for a safe and enjoyable holiday air travel experience. Passengers traveling through JWA between Friday, November 19 and Monday, November 29, will experience higher-than-normal passenger traffic due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. In 2009, more than 140,000 passengers traveled through JWA during the 11-day period. The busiest travel days are expected to be Wednesday, November 24 and Sunday, November 28.
