OC AIR | Artist William Glass Debuts at John Wayne Airport by Jenny Wedge

A collection of works by artist William Glass will be featured at John Wayne Airport (JWA) as part of the Community Focus Program, accessible for viewing by both the traveling and non-traveling general public through November 29, 2010.

“I deeply appreciate the classical bas-relief (French for sculptural) form found on the friezes of certain historic buildings,” said Glass. “They remind me of the constant movement of the human figure in space. I attempt to convey this concept through my art, in which the viewer can see the movement of figures in space and how the forms continue to develop as their gestures are seen.” … Continue Reading

A collection of paintings depicting the Jazz Age in a mid-century Geometric Abstract style are on display in John Wayne Airport (JWA) Terminal A Vi Smith Concourse Gallery across from Gates 11 – 14 now through September 20, 2010. This exhibition features art by 12 California artists who explored geometric and angular abstraction during the Post WWII era. John Wayne Airport (JWA) is pleased to be partnering with FreeFi Networks to provide free wireless internet access to passengers throughout the concourses, lounges and concession areas of JWA Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

“Wireless internet access is one of the amenities most frequently requested by our passengers,” said Alan L. Murphy, Airport Director.  “We are happy to be able to provide this much-anticipated service at no cost to our passengers.”

FreeFi Networks is a premier provider of content and advertiser-supported internet access for the traveling public. Included among the large-scale installations currently powered by FreeFi Networks are Denver International Airport and Oakland International Airport. … Continue Reading

A collection of paintings by artist Kevin Short will be featured as part of John Wayne Airport (JWA) Community Focus Program and will be on display now through July 26, 2010.“I apply oils on canvas, freely and loosely, using tangible points of reference both materially and visually to balance abstraction and reality” says Short. “I am obsessed to show the world I live in, painted in a manner devoid of staged melancholy and contrived sentiment.” Featured painting titled Tonic by Kevin Short

Car buffs moving through John Wayne Airport (JWA) may want to check out the Packard Classic Car Exhibit in Terminal A of the Vi Smith Concourse Gallery in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.
Passengers can view a collection of photos and accessories from the classic Packard automobile. Packard had manufactured their cars in the U-S between 1899 and 1958.

Orange County’s Packard International Motor Car Club has put on display photos of the classic luxury car, including a 1932 Twin Six Phaeton, that was owned by actress Jean Harlow, along with hood ornaments and other unique Packard ephemera. … Continue Reading
