DANCING IN THE DEPTHS | Voyage Aboard The Evolution and Experience The Galapagos Islands
THE GALAPAGOS from Sarosh Jacob on Vimeo.
No other place on Earth can be as fascinating and enriching as the Galapagos Islands. In fact, it is here where Charles Darwin captured the essence of modern thinking. We caught up with Adventure Traveler Sarosh Georges Jacob on his Underwater Exploration . . .
HAUTEOC: What do you do for a living ?
SAROSH GEORGES JACOB: I currently work in Manhattan as a Project Manager for a Bank. I’m also a certified Rescue Diver. I’d love to do something professionally with diving or underwater photography one day but for now its just something I enjoy in my free time.
HAUTEOC: Nice… we’ve seen your videos and they are underwater works of art.. How often do you travel?
SAROSH: I try to travel as often as I can. My mom got me into traveling at a young age and so far I’ve been to over 40 countries. I love experiencing new places and learning about other cultures.
HAUTEOC: What kind of traveler would you say you are? Adventurer, Nomadic, Sabbatical, Jet Setter?
SAROSH: I would definitely say I’m an Adventurer. With every trip I usually incorporate diving with some form of hiking or mountaineering. On my trip to Ecuador I spent the first half of the trip climbing to the summit of Mt Cotopaxi and then relaxed during the second half diving the Galapagos Islands.
HAUTEOC: What compelled you to film this? Its inspiring, the underwater world is something you truly captured. Love the dancing with the sea lion. .
SAROSH: Scuba Diving is my passion. 71% of the earth’s surface is covered by Ocean and most people have no idea of what a truly amazing world is down there. As a diver I’m just a visitor to that underwater world but with underwater videography I found a way to share the ocean’s beauty with my family and friends. Interacting with the Sea Lions in the Galapagos was incredible! They are not shy in the least, they actually seek you out to play with you. On most dives they would dance and play around us and show off their moves and then go back to eating fish. The Galapagos is teeming with life so unique and beautiful that I had to share it with others.
HAUTEOC: That Sea lion is adorable .. and the fish are just in unison in a tempo .. fantastic.. What video equipment did you use to film?
SAROSH: For the Galapagos video I used a simple Canon Powershot SD700IS digital camera with an underwater housing. I’ve recently upgraded to a Panasonic DMC-ZS3 that I can’t wait to try out because its shoots video in HD!
HAUTEOC: Where are you off to next?
SAROSH: This Saturday I’m off to Cozumel, Mexico for more scuba diving! Cozumel has some great diving with beautiful clear water. Mexico also offers cave diving in the Cenotes for an added thrill. I’ve been there before but the caves are so amazing I decided to go back for some more fun!
HAUTEOC: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
SAROSH: I would have to say Palau, the jewel of Micronesia. Palau has been on the top of my list of places to go for a long time now. It looks so beautiful in the pictures. Perfect beaches, tropical jungles, incredible diving, one day I will go there.
HAUTEOC: Beautiful we’d love to see more and hear more about it.. thank you Sarosh for sharing your Underwater World Experience with our travelers.. Just Beautiful and Amazing.
