LA VITA e’ BELLA | Life is Beautiful at Renowned Winery Estate of Castello Banfi Italy

October 18, 2010 A GRAPE TRADITION No Comments

Famous around the world for its wines and in particular for its Brunello di Montalcino, Castello Banfi has been proclaimed as one of the most selected wineries, at the exclusive resort Castello Banfi Il Borgo, in the Tuscan countryside.

Castello Banfi La Taverna, for the second consecutive year, has received the prestigious “Wine Spectator Magazine’s Restaurant Award of Excellence”, an honor attributed when judging the wine carte, which “offers an excellent selection combined with the perfect pairing with the food at a very competitive price”. Wine Spectator, considered one of the most influential international specialized magazines, recognizes this excellence award to less than three thousand restaurants all over the world.

Taverna Banfi exhibits an elegant scenery in the vaulted cellars of the building. The sturdy wooden tables are positioned beneath the broad brick arches where oversized wooden casks of the area’s traditional Brunello di Montalcino once dwelled. This winery offers traditional dishes from the Montalcino and Tuscan traditions, exalted by the freshness and simplicity of the local ingredients. Its selection of antipasti, primi piatti, meat, fish and desserts are prepared according to the local tradition and it respects seasonality of produce. Castello Banfi wines complement the three-course, four-course and five-course tasting menus as well as la carte selections of traditional Tuscan dishes and delicacies. Always open for lunch, Taverna Banfi is also available for dinner between April March and October November. On one side of the Taverna is admired for the castle secret rooms, where vintage wine bottled from 1960 till 1970 are still preserved, while the other side offers a breathtaking view over the Tuscan landscape.

“Enoteca” nearby is a re-created Tuscan shopper come-wine-bar for the enjoyment of our extensive selection of wines, grappa, extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and honey; artisan pastas, cookies and local ceramics, wools, soaps, stemware, wine jewelry and service items; “coffee table” books on wine, cooking, gardens, and Tuscan history and architecture. Here you can enjoy flights of Castello Banfi estate wines by the glass, accompanied by an optional “Tuscan Flavors” plate of regional bread, cheese and salumi.

Guests are also invited to visit the Giovanni F. Mariani Museum of Glass and Wine, the world largest private collection of roman pieces, as well as join the guided tours, daily available, of Castello Banfi winery and cellars.

Castello Banfi offers its services today tourist as well as to Castello Banfi – Il Borgo guests, the comfortable and charmingly elegant hospitality that offers 14 luxurious rooms and suites. Inside the walls of the castle it is finally possible to organize weddings or special events.
